Originally housed in a single story former warehouse, NYPCC's Brooklyn facility at 102 Pilling Street, Bushwick, was enlarged via a two-story 19,000 square foot addition.
Through careful construction sequencing and enhanced safety planning, the two additional floors were added to the building while the facility remained open and operational. Twelve steel columns were threaded into the existing building fabric to support the two new floors, each with 50 treatment and medical rooms, conference rooms and staff areas. The upper floors are clad with Kalwall - translucent, insulated panels providing both enclosure and thermal protection. Resultant interior spaces teem with light and the building is a subtly glowing beacon in the neighborhood by night.
New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center (NYPCC) offers individual and family out-patient psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and children under the auspices of the NYS Office of Mental Health. These specialty clinics for children provide both long-term treatment as well as crisis intervention and assist typically under-served communities to manage personal problems and the stress of poverty.
Together with NYPCC we have created a new beacon of hope in this hard-scrabble neighborhood.
