This project is the renovation of Richard Neutra's most famous San Francisco house.
The house is perched on the cliff of Telegraph Hill and has three stories with a basement beneath the street. All four levels have generous balconies looking south to the financial district and east across the Bay Bridge to Berkeley.
An elevator rises from the first floor to the living room and bar/kitchen on the fourth floor. One emerges from this shaft to a breathtaking panorama of the city by the bay framed by the severe, rectilinear massing of the house.
